Cookie Policy

Effective Date: May 13, 2026 · Last Updated: May 18, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how LearnNearby LLC ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on the Gather Nearby website at gathernearby.com (the "Site").

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device, remember your preferences, and collect information about how you use the site. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and web beacons (also called pixel tags or clear GIFs).

2. What Cookies We Use

We use the following categories of cookies:

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the Site to function. Without them, you cannot log in, complete bookings, or use secure features. They do not require your consent.

Note: Authentication cookies are host-only on the domain you use to access the Site and are not shared across other LearnNearby LLC-operated brand domains.

2.2 Functional Cookies

These cookies remember your preferences and improve your experience. You can disable them, but some features may not work as expected.

2.3 Analytics Cookies

We use PostHog and first-party product analytics to understand how people use the Site so we can improve it. Our analytics operate in two modes, depending on your cookie choice:

Before you make a choice, and if you choose “Essential Only”: Analytics run in an anonymous, cookieless mode. We do not set any analytics cookies, do not write anything to local storage or other persistent browser storage for analytics purposes, and do not use any persistent identifier tied to you or your device. Each browsing session is tracked only in memory and is discarded when you close or reload the page — it is never linked to your account, even if you are signed in. In this mode we collect only basic pageview and product-usage events (for example, which pages were viewed and which features were used); we do not record your screen, and we do not run autocapture (automatic collection of every click and form interaction).

If you choose “Accept All”: Your analytics tracking upgrades to persistent cookies, so we can recognize your browser across visits, and session recording becomes active, so we can watch a replay of on-site interactions to fix bugs and improve usability. This is the only mode in which PostHog sets a persistent cookie or records your session.

Do Not Track: If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we do not run analytics at all — not even in anonymous cookieless mode.

We also record the fact of your consent choice itself (for example, that you clicked “Accept All” or “Essential Only”) so we can honor it on future visits.

ServicePurposeData CollectedLocationDuration
PostHogProduct analytics, feature usage trackingPages visited and product-usage events for all visitors (anonymous, cookieless, not linked to your account, unless Do Not Track is on); with “Accept All” consent: session recordings, persistent identifiers, device type, browserEU / USUp to 1 year
Gather Nearby first-party analyticsProduct analytics, search quality, performance measurementPages visited, selected events, anonymous/session IDs, search and filter metadata, device type, browser, web vitalsUnited StatesRaw events up to 90 days; searches up to 60 days

Session recording is only ever active after you click “Accept All.” Session recordings may capture interactions with the Site interface; we do not intentionally capture payment card information or passwords through session recording, and PostHog is configured to mask sensitive fields.

2.4 Infrastructure and Security Technologies

ServicePurposeData Collected
CloudflareCDN, DDoS protection, DNSIP addresses, request headers, response data
SentryError monitoringError logs, stack traces (PII redacted before logging)

These technologies are technically necessary for secure and reliable operation of the Site and do not require consent.

2.5 What We Do NOT Use

We do not deploy, for our own analytics or advertising:

  • Third-party advertising cookies or ad networks
  • Cross-site tracking pixels from social media platforms (e.g. Meta Pixel)
  • Remarketing or retargeting cookies

Some organization and club profiles feature embedded third-party content — for example a YouTube or Vimeo video, or a TikTok or X (Twitter) post. To protect your privacy, we do not load these embeds until you have accepted analytics cookies or explicitly chosen to load a given embed. Once loaded, the originating platform may set its own cookies, which we do not control; see that platform’s own cookie and privacy policies for details.

If this changes, we will update this Cookie Policy and notify you in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

3. California Residents — CCPA Disclosure

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

Do we "sell" or "share" your data through cookies?
No. We do not sell personal information collected through cookies for monetary consideration, and we do not share personal information collected through cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Opt-out of analytics: You can opt out of analytics by emailing us at [email protected] with the subject line “Opt Out of Analytics.” We will configure your account to exclude your sessions from analytics collection.

Your California rights with respect to cookie-collected data are the same as your rights under the full Privacy Policy. See the Privacy Policy for how to exercise those rights.

4. How to Control Cookies

Browser controls: You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete existing cookies
  • Block all cookies
  • Allow cookies only from specific sites

Browser instructions:

Note: Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or completing bookings.

Opt out of analytics: In addition to browser controls, you can opt out of analytics tracking by updating your cookie preferences or by contacting us at [email protected].

5. Updates to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as we add or remove tracking technologies. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, for significant changes, by email or by a notice on the Site.
